Evolve Dance Company’s competition teams are a group of dedicated, talented, and well-rounded dancers. They grow together as a team and travel the mid-west performing at competitions.

 

For the last five years, Evolve has won many top awards and is being recognized with many special awards. The showmanship, percision, entertainment, choreography, and technique awards are proudly displayed on the studio walls along with several high score awards. Many of our dancers individually have won title and icon awards! Evolve has also won the Sportsmanship award twice at the Move dance competition!

 

Some of the most recent big team awards are:
Nationals 2009- an open team placed 3rd in the finals at Move!
Regionals 2010- an open dance received the highest scoring dance of the whole Hollywood Connection competitionand a lyrical group won the high score in the co-star age division!
Nationals 2010- a modern dance received 3rd in th HOF fianls!

Last year was a successful one, and Artistic Director, Jenny Vause, along with teacher Theresa Northrup, are looking forward to the 2011-2012 dance year. This year, 35 dancers, ranging in age from 7-18, will compete dances in the styles of tap, jazz, open, modern, hip hop, and lyrical. Their performance season begins in January of 2012 and will conclude with the recital in June and a national competition in the summer.

 

Bringing in guest teachers is very important to help the dancers grow by learning different styles and ways of teaching. Some recent teachers Evolve has brought in include: Kate Jablonski, Deb Nanni, Gil Mata, Joe Caruana, Lizzie MacKenzie, Jason Beitel, Ted Jackson, Sarah Burney, Alvin Rameriz, Mike Gosney, and Alesksandra Wodja.

 

Evolve dancers also have the opportunity to compete solos, duets, and trios. Many do this in addition to competition teams. Some dancers compete only solos, duets, and trios.
