Description of 2008-2009 Fall Classes

Preschool Classes are for dancers ages 3 and 4. Includes creative movement, ballet, and tap. See below for the description of tap and ballet. This is a 45 min. class. The dancers will perform 1 dance in the recital.

Combination Classes are for the younger dancer, ages 4-7, and are available in three levels. Approximately twenty minutes each will be spent on ballet, jazz, and tap. Please see below for description of ballet, jazz, and tap. This is a 60 min. class. The dancers will perform 2 dances and 1 combined ballet dance in the recital. Levels 1-3

Ballet Classes are available beginning at age 7. Dancers will learn terminology, discipline, and grace. Barre work, across the floor work, and combinations will be included. Class is 30 min. long and 1 dance will be learned for the recital. Levels 1-4

Jazz/ Jazz-Lyrical Classes are also offered beginning at age 7. Several styles of jazz may be covered including lyrical, character, and high-energy. Turns and jumps will also be incorporated. Jazz classes are 30 min. long class and 1 dance will be learned for the recital. Jazz/Lyrical classes

are 45- 60 min. long and 2 dances will be learned for the recital.  Levels 1-4

Tap Classes are available beginning at age 7. Tap classes will concentrate on rhythms and sounds. Dancers will learn a variety of combination steps and across the floor excersies. 1 dance will be learned for the recital in this 30 min. long class. Levels 1-4

Hip Hop Classes are also offered starting at age 7. Hip Hop dancing focuses on sharp, fast-paced movements and isolations. Many kids want to "dance like the kids on the Disney Channel". This is what they mean! :) This class is 30 min. long and 1 dance will be performed in the recital. Levels 1-4

Technique Classes are offered in 3 levels-Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. These classes are for training purposes and a dance is not learned for the recital. Classes range in length of time. They are available in the following forms of dance:

Tap

Percussive Tap

Musical Theater

Ballet

Jazz

Hip Hop

Turns and Jumps

Solo/Duet/Trio Classes are available for those dancers that prefer one-on-one attention from an instructer. Availble for technical purposes only, to learn a recital dance, or to learn a routine for competition. Available in 15 min. or 30 min. lengths of time.
